Buharis' Holiday.
Its only a Confident Leader that would take a 10day Annual Leave now, inspite of the defections.
........Showcasing Pedigree.
With one stroke of the matchet, Buhari had downgraded the defections to an infinitesimal noisy neighbour stuff.
Not sure any past Nigerian Leader would have dared this risk even for one day.
Political Pedigree isn't a function of noisy eye catching headlines. Or a premature ejaculation, as the cliché riders are wont to say.
Buharis statement, by taking his scheduled timetable vacation is a good example of keeping your eyes on the ball. And by statutorily Transmitting Power to his Vice, vide the constitutionally prescribed outlet to the National Assembly, is a tale of his teamspirit pattern of governance.
The entire noise about defections, seem to me as a mere Abuja-teacup drama. If we always say all politics is local, and run to our wards, communities, and areas on election days to "deliver". Why didnt we go home to our constituencies to defect.
The handlers of Buhari may have weighed in on the zeroness of this airconditioned room defectors, who werent confident of the reactions of their voter-base, and said, go-ahead and take your Vacation.
If the defectors, defectees, and defectionists aint running their private airconditioned-room politics, these defections should have started in the communities.
By merely announcing defections, on the floor of the National Assembly, shows how much value and respect, these departure lounge, Budget Padders have for their Constituents, on whose back, they flew to Abuja.
Consultations at home, via townhall meetings etc would have given this charade an aroma of seriousness.
Little wonder, President Buhari, with one stroke of the matchet, had decided not " to lose sleep", in Oshobabas voice, over this incident.
"......as flies to wanton boys are we to the gods, they kill us for their sport...." so says William Shakespeare.
