The issue however died after Mr. Bayero was appointed managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, under the President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mr. Bayero was recently relieved of his duty and the emir directed the Emirate Council to write to Mr. Bayero again.
Again he failed to respond or appear in person to explain his reasons.

The Emir also elevated the son of Emir Inuwa to be the district head of Gwale local Government.
It will be recalled that Mr. Bayero was tipped to as the heir apparent of the Kano emirship throne but lost to the current emir, who was then the Dan Majen Kano.
Since losing the coveted seat to Mr. Sanusi, Mr. Lamido banished himself to Abuja and refused to pledge allegiance to the new emir as provided by the tradition.
